Paul Foston, Advanced Fellow of the PGA and among one of Golf Monthly’s Top 25 Coaches, has designed a sensational golf academy in Kent that was described by the Director of Training & Education of the PGA, Kyle Phillpots as a World Class Teaching Facility. This endorsement from the governing body underpins the sophistication of both the technical application to training and the design of the short game area and championship putting green. Kyle was particularly impressed with the creation of the short game course. He had never before seen a coaching facility that was designed with real life visual effects provided by the natural hazards - bunkers, stream, a two tier green, the high and low elevations that allow every golf experience to be practised here. This is fantastic for players of all levels from beginners to advanced and provides Kent with a unique new training infrastructure for both ‘technique and touch’ in all aspects of the game.
Studio2, a converted 17th century Normandy barn is set in idyllic grounds with a natural golfing landscape. The Short Game area comprises an 1800 sq. ft chipping green with two bunkers, one for the beginner to get to grips with this difficult shot and a really challenging St Andrews type riveted bunker for the expert! A 900 sq. ft Putting Green runs at a speed of between 10-11 on the stimp metre (Championship course pace). “I can honestly say that the surface is absolutely fabulous and it will enable you to take your putting to a new dimension. I have designed the Green to provide up to a metre of break which makes it extremely challenging” says Paul Foston. “Huxley surfaces are world-renowned and are installed at the homes of many of the world’s top golfers because it gives a perfect green for year-round practice.”
The C Swing teaching system is an advanced video swing analyser with 2 cameras to view your swing from face on and behind at the same time. This, along with a plasma screen, gives instant feedback during lessons allowing for immediate corrective action. Students can also compare their swing with top tournament players and lessons can be downloaded onto disc for post lesson practice. Flightscope, the ‘state of the art’ Radar Launch Monitor has stunning graphics that provides essential information on launch angle and spin, swing speed, ball flight, shot distance and dispersion, club face angle, smash factor (quality of strike) and swing path. To assist with putting, an Indoor Huxley Modular Green is also available together with other training aids to fine tune specific areas of your game.
In addition, a range of demonstration clubs from many of the top companies are available should anyone be thinking of changing equipment. Clubs are a high investment for golfers and therefore it is so important to have them custom fitted to the individual. Why not test drive a range of these top products to see which model best suits them. Flightscope gives accurate information and an independent analysis before you buy and the Academy will of course give the most competitive market price. The Paul Foston Golf Academy at Studio2 is a perfect venue for learning. Set in magnificent and very private grounds, it allows you to develop your technique in a wonderfully calm and natural golfing environment.
